The picture was perfect ... then tragedy struck.

In December 2007 I was diagnosed with ALS.

ALS is a debilitating and terminal disease and there is no cure (the same disease that Stephen Hawking had). When I was diagnosed in 2007 the doctors gave me 3 years to live. Today I am still here, with my wonderful wife and our two teenage girls. I am fully paralyzed, with a feeding tube and a breathing machine, I operate the PC with my eyes and I cannot talk.

I won't go into the details of the incredibly difficult journey that got me here, on this blog. What is important is that I live a full and productive life. I am involved in fundraising events for the local ALS community, and I run an online business with my eyes!

I know what you're going to ask: "Why did you start an online business, can't you just relax and enjoy life and your family?"

I cannot just 'sit down' and do nothing, that's not who I am. I also believe that being productive increases a person's lifespan, especially if they suffer from a chronic or terminal disease.

There are more practical reasons for starting a business in my condition. ALS is expensive. I need machines to live, professional assistance to wash and feed me, physiotherapy to keep limbs stretched and without pain, and assistance when my wife is out for work.

But there is also another motive. I want to motivate as many people as possible so that, no matter what their condition is, they can still live happy and productive lives.

If I can do it, anybody can.
